Feed 2 x Per MonthSyngonium ‘Robusta’ is a cultivar of the Syngonium genus, known for its robust and large leaves.
Appearance: Arrowhead-shaped leaves that are larger compared to other Syngonium varieties. The leaves are usually deep green and have a glossy texture. As the plant matures, the leaves may develop natural splits or lobes, adding to its aesthetic appeal.
Growth Habit: Syngonium ‘Robusta’ has an upright growth habit, initially forming a bushy clump of foliage. As it grows, it may produce trailing stems that can be trained to climb or allowed to cascade. With proper care, it can reach a height of around 1 to 3 feet (30 to 90 cm).
Lighting Requirements: Thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions, but to maintain its robust growth and leaf coloration, providing it with bright, filtered light is ideal. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
Temperature and Humidity: This plant prefers average to warm temperatures between 18-27°C. It can tolerate slightly cooler temperatures but should be protected from drafts and temperature extremes. Syngonium ‘Robusta’ adapts well to normal room humidity levels.
Watering: Keep the soil slightly moist but not waterlogged. Water the plant when the top inch (2.5 cm) of soil feels dry. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot. Ensure proper drainage in the pot to prevent standing water.
Soil and Fertiliser: Use a well-draining potting mix suitable for houseplants. A mixture of peat moss, perlite, and potting soil is commonly used. Fertilise the plant during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser diluted according to the package instructions.
Pruning and Maintenance: Prune to control its size and shape. Remove any yellowed, damaged, or leggy stems to maintain the plant’s appearance and overall health. Wiping the leaves with a damp cloth occasionally will help keep them clean and prevent dust accumulation.

Wind TolerantSyzygium guineense, commonly known as Waterberry, Water Pear, or African Waterpear, is a species of tree belonging to the Myrtaceae family. It is native to various regions in Africa, including parts of West Africa, East Africa, and southern Africa. The Waterberry tree is valued for its edible fruits and is often found growing near water sources, such as rivers and lakes.
Appearance: Syzygium guineense is a medium-sized to large tree that can reach heights of 10 to 30m. It has a rounded crown with dense foliage.
Leaves: The leaves of the Waterberry tree are simple, opposite, and elliptical in shape. They are dark green and have a glossy appearance.
Flowers: The tree produces small, cream-colored or white flowers that are arranged in panicles or clusters. The flowers are usually not showy but are an important source of nectar for pollinators.
Fruits: The most significant feature of Syzygium guineense is its edible fruit, which is known as Waterberry or Water Pear. The fruits are small, round, and turn from green to purple-black when ripe. They have a sweet and slightly tart flavour and are enjoyed fresh or used to make jams, jellies, and beverages.
Growth Requirements: Waterberry trees prefer well-draining soil and are commonly found growing in areas with access to water, such as riverbanks and wetlands. They can tolerate both full sun and partial shade.
Uses: The fruits of Syzygium guineense are an important food source for both humans and wildlife, including birds and various mammal species. In some regions, the bark and leaves of the tree have also been used for medicinal purposes.
Wildlife Attraction: The Waterberry tree is attractive to birds and other wildlife, which feed on its fruits and disperse its seeds, contributing to its ecological significance.
