Croton Assorted 35cm Pot

Croton (Codiaeum variegatum) is a popular tropical plant known for its colourful and vibrant foliage. It is relatively easy to grow as a houseplant or in outdoor gardens, provided you provide it with the right care. Here’s some information on how to grow and care for croton plants:

Light
Croton plants require plenty of bright, indirect sunlight to thrive. Place them near a window where they can receive bright, filtered light for most of the day. They can tolerate some direct sunlight, but too much can scorch their leaves.

Temperature
Crotons prefer warm temperatures and are sensitive to cold drafts. They thrive in temperatures between 15°C to 27°C. Keep them away from cold windows or doors during the winter months.

Watering
Water your croton when the top 2.5cm of the soil feels dry to the touch. Be careful not to overwater, as they are susceptible to root rot. Ensure that the pot has good drainage to prevent waterlogged soil.

Humidity
Croton plants appreciate high humidity levels, which can be a challenge in dry indoor environments. You can increase humidity by misting the plant with water regularly, using a humidity tray, or placing a small humidifier nearby.

Soil
Plant crotons in a well-draining potting mix. A mix designed for tropical plants or a blend of peat moss, perlite, and potting soil works well.

Fertilisation
Feed your croton with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half-strength every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce or stop fertilisation in the fall and winter when the plant’s growth slows down.

Pruning
Crotons can become leggy over time, so it’s a good idea to prune them to maintain a bushy shape. You can cut back leggy stems and remove dead or yellowing leaves as needed.
