Can be planted in a pot indoors or outdoors and also can be planted in your garden. The berries are produced in Summer, green at first and turning to purple, and finally dark purple when  ripe. They have a sweet taste when ripe, with variable acidity; and are covered in a protective coating of powdery wax, known as the bloom. In autumn their leaves turn a fiery shade of red, before dropping.
